Manager Research and Due Diligence Process
PMC’s research and due diligence process is thorough but straightforward. We developed a multi-step approach to identify top investment managers—those we consider able to outperform their benchmarks over a complete market cycle. PMC Premium Research offers the ability to private-label research reports and toolsets so advisors can enhance their suite of services. Whether managed account strategies, mutual funds, liquid alternatives, exchange-traded funds, or fund strategist portfolios, all of PMC’s evaluations and recommendations are based on our comprehensive and unbiased process which involves unconstrained manager sourcing, multi-factor evaluation, team appraisal, and ongoing monitoring.

Multi-factor evaluation is the heart of the process and involves PMC’s examination of the manager’s investment philosophy and process, personnel quality, and firm stability through interviews with investment professionals, on-site visits, and conference calls. PMC research analysts will also apply single and multi-factor returns analysis, and holdings-based analysis and attribution.

Ongoing monitoring is the process by which select managers undergo continued due diligence, including regularly updated analyst opinions and quarterly monitoring. The PMC Research Team reviews performance versus expectations, material changes to personnel, processes, and the overall firm, and will flag outliers for further examination.

PMC Manager Selections
Sorting through the more than 12,000 investment products available on the Envestnet platform can be daunting for any advisor. PMC narrows that universe to a select group of managers that offer an attractive risk/reward proposition according to our proprietary quantitative ranking model or our Research Team’s due diligence process. We believe these investment options represent a broad selection across style box dimensions, both in terms of market capitalization and investment style. Advisors can be assured that the managers they deploy on their clients’ behalf have been thoroughly vetted by a team of experienced analysts.
